PhD supervision#

The credits for PhD supervision allocated under the teaching heading are normally 50 hours per year of supervision. Given the uneven start times and the fact that the number of new PhD students is not known early enough in the process of preparing the teaching program, the supervision is credited retroactively, for example the supervision of a student in the academic year 26/27 will be credited in the 27/28 teaching program.

From 21/22 (credited in the 22/23 teaching program) the credits are allocated following these rules:

  • if on the 1st of May XX a supervisor is supervising a student there will be credits for it in the XX/XX+1 teaching program,
  • a supervisor will get supervision credits for 4 years, regardless of the length of the funding,
  • if the supervision extends beyond four years, an addition credit of 11 will be give for the first year of continued supervison but not for subsequent years,
  • shared supervision and part time students supervision will be scaled according to the corresponding fractions.

Special cases are dealt on a case-by-case basis by the Director of Education.
